[WIP] Implemented the simple task chunk scheme suggested by Aidan

Tested for correctness, but not yet for speed.

Fixes #194 (closed), if and when merged.

So, what do we do ? It's not obviously better or worse, just philosophically better.

So lets be more rigorous. @jwillis, can you re-run the 16-node test for more timesteps (collect around 10min of data) and get the wall-clock times for the threadpool_map calls?

So we need to:

• add some timing information to the threadpool_map function.
• Collect that information for both branches.
• Run on 16 threads for ~10000 steps or so.
