I still haven't lost hope to one day convince you to use a more advanced format like hdf5 where meta-data can be easily added to better understand what is in the files...

Haha not at all, I'm also very keen to do that at some point! Currently we're still following the typical standard for how these tables are done in the field. The first thing we're trying to prioritise, though it keeps getting stuck behind more urgent things, is make sure the generation of these tables is fully included in the public code (in woma -- where we already use hdf5 for everything apart from the eos). Once that's done, and once we've finished adding the several other new EoS we're half-way though doing, then we'll hopefully find a moment to tidy it all up with real metadata :)
